Will The Migos Ever Be a Hit Driven Rap Group Again?

It’s beginning to feel like the single is merely a heads up, and not a heads up on the artistic intent of the Migos at all. I mean unless rapping fast over glitzy beats counts as a uniting theme for a project.

It’s 2016. Bad and Bougie has just been shouted out by Childish Gambino and heralded by him, The Migos, as the new Black Beetles. It goes on to do its 14 week run #1 on the Billboard charts. Culture comes out in January filled with hit anthem after hit anthem. “T-Shirt”, “Trouble” all were hit songs in their own right.

Fast forward to 2021 and Avalanche barely has a week to breathe before Culture III comes out. Maybe it’s the diffuculty of making post covid moments or adapting to the Friday release cycle but for an album that was supposedly “Not Rushed”, according to their complex interview headed by Speedy Morman, it sure sounds like every track is a flurry of bars and not a thought out shot at the charts.
