Jpegmafia continues to thumb his nose at hip-hop’s boundaries like it’s nobody’s business. Mixed, mastered, and Produced by Jpegmafia “LP!” wrestles in a pit with a bull with bloodshot eyes. Rage is somehow at the core of this project, but without naming any names “LP!” is left with a vague impression of resentment.

“Trust!” kicks off the 49 minute project with hysteric rim shots and cascading synth bells. “These hoes is conniving (Woah), I won’t even try to (Woah)” Peggy drones his point in while the track seamlessly flows into “Dirty!”. “Dawg, look at these niggas/Grind my teeth, how they spit so much filler?/ Wannabes used to wanna be wiggas Same wannabes wanna be killers, mmm-mmm Weak-ass rhymes, the Brooklyn native spares no feelings off the gate.

Tracks like “End Credits” which features retired pro wrestler Arn Anderson boasting about how he’s quick to pull the toolie if someone ever tries to rob him, not only show the rappers love for wrestling, but add to this album’s viciousness, drawing upon the wrestlers braggadocios nature.

His latest installment to his discography is brasher and at times poppier than “All My Heroes Are Cornballs”, like his interpolation of Brittney Spears “”Hit Me Baby One More Time” on the hook of “Thot’s Prayer”, reimagining the 2000’s hit in to a gospel banger.

Spread about in instrumentals fusing hard rock aesthetics and soul samples sometimes glitching unconsciously and sprinkling game soundtrack samples in between, are lyrics taunting and goading adversaries that are delivered through an infectious flow.

Whether it’s at music executives or industry frenemies or perhaps colleagues he believes aren’t making the bar, Peggy makes it his career to hop over expectations, as he put ever so aptly in his HTBAR vlog. He plays this persona all album long, the perfectionist with a chip on his shoulder.

Adversaries, we all have them right?

Jpegmafia’s statement attached to this release reads as a burn notice letting fans know that his time signed to a major label is over.
